Hammer Used In Sunday Night Fight
A hammer was utilized as a weapon when a fight broke out between roommates Sunday night.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report when they intervened in the domestic altercation at the 405 Oak Street home, they found the men in a bedroom, engaged in a fight.
In the end both roommates were placed under arrest. James Terry Howell 56, and Robert Ryan Reid, age 63, were both booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center on a charge of aggravated domestic assault.
When they entered, officers report that Howell was atop Reid, holding a hammer against his chest. They report that there was blood all over the room and that both men appeared to be under influence of some type of intoxicant.
Emergency medical personnel responding to the scene transported both men to Crockett Hospital.
Officers report that both Howell and Reid claimed they were acting in self-defense. Howell reported that Reid had struck him in the head with the hammer.
Officers said he had sustained a minor head injury that required stitches. Reid told officers that Howell had been the aggressor. He had sustained some fractured bones in his face.
Officers indicate that they were unable to determine the primary aggressor, therefore both men were charged.
Both Howell and Reid have been scheduled an appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 7, 2013.
